Lehigh with three in top 10 after day one of Towson Invitational

PHOENIX, Md. – The Lehigh women's golf team opened its fall season Monday with round one of the Towson Invitational at Eagle's Nest Country Club. For the most part, the rain stayed away but not before the event was shortened from 54 holes to 36 holes.
 
Lehigh shot 315 as a team Monday and sits in third place in a nine-team field after the opening 18 holes of play.
 
Junior Minuette Laessig led the Mountain Hawks on Monday, shooting three over par 75 to sit in a tie for second place. Senior Reagan Jahn is one shot behind Laessig in a tie for fourth place at 76. Jahn won this event last year in a playoff.
 
Sophomore Alexis Browne is the third Mountain Hawk to sit in the top 10 after day one as she is part of a tie for seventh place after shooting 77. Classmate Angela Ding shot 87 and is tied for 33rd place, while junior Rebecca Markunas shot 88 and is tied for 35th place.
 
Princeton shot 306 as a team and holds the 18 hole team lead by six strokes over host Towson. Tiana Lau of Princeton holds the individual lead at two over par 74.
 
The Towson Invitational concludes Tuesday with the final 18 holes beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Lehigh will play with the Tigers of Princeton and Towson in the final round.
