
Spangenberg named preseason All-League; Mountain Hawks picked second

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Coming off Patriot League Tournament berths in six of the last seven seasons, the Lehigh volleyball team has been picked second in the preseason poll, as announced on Wednesday. Additionally, junior Ana Spangenberg was named to the preseason All-Patriot League Team.
American came in first with 118 points and 16 first-place votes, ahead of Lehigh in second with 103 points (two first-place votes). Navy followed with 100 points, Army West Point with 86, Colgate with 82, Colgate with 82, Bucknell with 59, Loyola with 37, Holy Cross with 30 and Lafayette with 23.
Spangenberg was named first team All-Patriot League last season, playing in all 31 matches and ranking third in the league in kills (406) and kills per set (3.72) while ranking second in points (460.5). She was second on the Mountain Hawks in total blocks (69) and block assists (61), while ranking third in digs (215) and service aces (16). She had 20-plus kills on four different occasions and 25-plus kills twice. Spangenberg recorded six double-doubles on the year and was named Patriot League Player of the Week on Sept. 25 following a 0.408 hitting percentage and 5.67 kills per set in a pair of 3-0 league victories over Colgate and Holy Cross.
The Mountain Hawks are set to open their season when they host Duquesne on Friday, Aug. 24 in Stabler Arena. Gametime is set for 7:30 p.m.
