Pollan paces Mountain Hawks in Rivalry stroke play event

HELLERTOWN, Pa. – In its final tune-up before the Patriot League Championship, Lehigh fell to rival Lafayette in stroke play 310-305 Tuesday at The Steel Club. Sophomore Chris Pollan led the Mountain Hawks with a round of two over par 74, but three Leopards shot 76 or better.
Lafayette's Will Halamandaris had the individual low score at one over par 73.
Lehigh held out its top four players, who are expected to occupy the top four positions in the lineup for this weekend's Patriot League Championship.
Behind Pollan, junior Eamon Marone carded a 76, while classmate Lee Hammerschmidt carded a 78. Also competing for the Mountain Hawks were junior Max Redetzke (82) and freshman Anthony Cordaro (85).
Despite Lafayette besting Lehigh in both match play and stroke play this season, the Mountain Hawks out-placed the Leopards in all six events that both schools entered so far in 2017-18.
Next up for both teams is the Patriot League Championship, which Lehigh will host on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club beginning Saturday.
