Perrone named Patriot League Rookie of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a career-high four-point performance at Towson, Olivia Perrone of Lehigh field hockey has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced on Monday. The award marks the second of Perrone's young career, and Lehigh's third Rookie of the Week honor of the season (classmate Leah Mullery was also named Rookie of the Week earlier this season). Perrone had a goal and two assists as the Mountain Hawks closed out their season with a 3-2 road win against the Tigers.

Perrone moved to the forward line on Sunday and excelled, having a hand in all three Lehigh goals. Her two assists also marked a career high. First, Perrone assisted on Lenke Havas' goal at the 13:30 mark. She scored her own goal at 26:54 to give Lehigh a 2-0 lead, then assisted on Maddie Leavitt's goal at 48:17 to give the Mountain Hawks a 3-1 advantage .

In the end, the Mountain Hawks won their season finale for the second time in the last three seasons (all under head coach Caitlin Dallmeyer), this after doing so just once in the previous 18 years. Perrone ended her rookie campaign with 11 points (three goals, five assists).
Havas also garnered honorable mention recognition after posting a goal and assist on Sunday, the assist giving her nine on the season to become Lehigh's all-time single-season record holder. Havas is tied for first in the Patriot League in assists (9), stands fourth in points (21) and tied for seventh in goals (6).

Sunday capped off a season of continued progress for the Mountain Hawks. Along with Sunday's victory, the Mountain Hawks beat Ball State for the first time since 1984, topped Patriot League foe Colgate and took archrival Lafayette to overtime for a second straight year. Lehigh also scored nine more goals than all of last season, netting 24 in 2018.
