Mountain Hawks Host Full Weekend Slate to Open Season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Mountain Hawks officially open the 2017 season with a slate of four home contests on the weekend as they host the Lehigh Fall Classic at Stabler Arena.
Lehigh opens the weekend with a 1 p.m. contest against Saint Peter's on Friday, followed by a matchup with Marist at 8 p.m. On Saturday, Lehigh returns to action at 3 p.m. to face Radford and closes out the weekend by facing Coppin State at 8 p.m.
Live stats will be available for all matches on the weekend. Lehigh's Saturday matches will be streamed live on the Patriot League Network.
The Mountain Hawks posted a 13-17 record in 2016 with a record of 8-4 at home. Lehigh compiled a record of 8-8 in Patriot League play last season and placed fifth in the final regular season standings. LU was picked fifth in the 2017 Patriot League Volleyball Preseason Poll.
Saint Peter's is coming off a 0-25 campaign in 2016. The Peacocks were picked 10th in the 2017 MAAC Women's Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Marist also recorded a 13-17 overall record last season, including a 0-7 mark in neutral site matches. The Red Fox were selected third in the 2017 MAAC Women's Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll behind preseason favorite Fairfield and second place Quinnipiac. Megan Fergus and Ashton Korona represented Marist on the Preseason All-MAAC Team.
Radford posted a stellar 24-6 mark in 2016 with a record of 5-1 in neutral site matches. After falling to High Point in the Big South championship match, the Highlanders garnered the No. 2 spot in the 2017 Big South Preseason Volleyball Poll behind High Point. Radford's Maddie Palmer and Haley Kleespies were both named to the Big South Preseason All-Conference Team while Palmer also earned Big South Preseason Player of the Year honors.
Coppin State enters 2017 under first-year head coach Tim Walsh after the Eagles posted a 2-24 record last season with a mark of 0-8 in neutral site matches. Coppin State was picked sixth in the northern division in the 2017 MEAC Volleyball Preseason Poll.
