Bragalone named first team All-American by the Associated Press

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh junior running back Dominick Bragalone has been named first team All-American by the Associated Press, it was announced Tuesday. The top rusher and scorer in the FCS this season, Bragalone picks up his first career All-America honor following an impressive campaign in which he helped lead the Mountain Hawks to their second straight Patriot League title.

In addition to this first team All-America honor, Braglaone was named Patriot League Player of the Year and earned first team All-Patriot League honors for the third straight year while also garnering first team All-ECAC accolades. Bragalone was named a finalist for the Walter Payton Award, given to the outstanding offensive player in the FCS. He finished seventh in the final voting.

This season, Bragalone became the first Lehigh player to post three 1,000-yard rushing seasons, gaining a FCS-leading 1,388 yards on 247 carries with 18 touchdowns. He also leads the FCS in rushing touchdowns, total touchdowns (22) and scoring (12 ppg.). Bragalone's 1,388 rushing yards mark the second-highest single season total in school history.

The South Williamsport, Pa. native was especially dominant in Patriot League play, rushing for 976 yards and 13 touchdowns in the Mountain Hawks' six league games. He has eclipsed the 100 yard rushing mark in seven consecutive games, including all six league games and posted a pair of 200-yard efforts: a career-high 218-yard showing at Fordham, and a 201-yard, career-best four-touchdown effort versus Holy Cross.

Bragalone finished his junior season with 3,567 career rushing yards and 39 rushing touchdowns. He is 129 yards shy of Lehigh's career rushing record (3,696) held by Rabih Abdullah '97.

With Bragalone's selection, Lehigh has an AP All-American for the second straight year, as wide receiver Troy Pelletier was honored on the third team last season. Bragalone is the first Mountain Hawk to earn first team honors from the AP since wide receiver Ryan Spadola in 2011.

Bragalone is one of five Patriot League players named to one of three AP All-America teams. He helped the Mountain Hawks to a 5-1 Patriot League mark that resulted in Lehigh's league-leading 12th football championship.
