Lehigh Hosts Navy Tuesday in Home Finale

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh volleyball team will host its final home match of the 2017 campaign on Tuesday when the Mountain Hawks face Navy with postseason implications on the line. The match is slated for a 7 p.m. start. and will be streamed live for free on the Patriot League Network.
Lehigh (17-11, 8-6 PL) is fresh off a 1-1 weekend split with a 3-0 victory over Loyola on Friday followed by a 3-1 loss to American on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks enter the final week of the regular season tied for fourth place with Colgate in the Patriot League standings and one match up on Bucknell with two matches remaining this season. Lehigh holds the tie-breaker over both Colgate and Bucknell should the teams finished the regular season tied in league wins.
In Patriot League play, Lehigh ranks second in the league with 706 kills and third in blocks with 148. Sophomore Ana Spangenberg ranks third in the Patriot League with 3.59 kills per set while junior Megan Polak ranks third in assists per set with 8.98. Sophomore Lauren Bright leads the team in blocks with 1.09 per set while junior Emily Develle has chipped in 4.39 digs per set.
Navy (21-6, 11-3 Patriot) enters Tuesday as one of three teams with a postseason berth already secured. The Mids sit in second place in the league but can still move up to the No. 1 seed or drop to the No. 3 seed based on their final two results. Navy has won its last three matches on the road with wins over Loyola, Bucknell and Lafayette.
The Mids have three players ranked second in three different league categories. Patricia Mattingly ranks second in the Patriot League with 9.69 assists per set, Katie Patrick ranks second in total blocks with 113 and Sydney Shearn ranks second in digs per set with 5.07.
Navy leads the all-time 31-27 over Lehigh including a 3-1 victory over the Mountain Hawks earlier this season.
Following the matchup against Navy, Lehigh will complete its regular season Friday on the road against Army. The match is slated for a 7 p.m. start from Gillis Field House.
