Patriot League's Top Teams Square Off Tuesday as Lehigh Visits Navy

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The battle of the Patriot League's top two teams is set up for Tuesday night as Lehigh visit's league-leading Navy at 7 p.m. The Mountain Hawks are tied with Army for second in the league standings, while the Mids stand alone at the top with an undefeated league record. The match can be viewed live for free on the Patriot League Network.
The Mountain Hawks (14-6, 5-1) are coming off a 1-1 performance last week in two Patriot League matches in which they suffered their first league loss in a 3-0 defeat at American on Friday night and then returnerd home on Saturday to pick up a 3-1 victory over Loyola to extend their win streak to seven-straight at home. Victoria Hemsath led Lehigh to victory on Saturday with her match-high 17 kills and team-leading four total blocks on the day.
Ana Spangenberg paced the Mountain Hawks with 28 total kills last week on a .288 attack percentage. She and Hemsath tied for the team lead with 4.00 kills per set on the week. Megan Polak averaged 10.2 assists per set and ranks second in the league with 9.12 average for the season.
The Mids (16-3, 6-0) own the most overall wins in the league to go along with the only remaining unblemished league record. Navy owns the longest current win streak among Patriot League teams at seven-straight and is also 8-0 this season at home. Last season, the Mids were 7-4 at home with three of those losses in league play, including a loss to Lehigh.
Navy ranks second in the league in team hitting percentage (.256), first in kills per set (13.85) and second in blocks per set (2.30). Katie Patrick leads Navy and ranks third in the league with a .356 attack percentage, while Tara Dotzauer and Maggie Phillips both rank inside the league's top-10 for kills per set.
The Mids hold a 30-27 edge in the all-time series and the two sides have split the last four meetings.
Following Tuesday's match, Lehigh will return home Friday for a 5 p.m. Patriot League match with Army West Point.
