BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After suffering their first Patriot League loss Friday night, the Mountain Hawks bounced back with a 3-1 victory over Loyola on Saturday when they returned home to the friendly confines of Grace Hall where they have now won their last seven-straight matches. Lehigh improves to 14-6 overall and 5-1 in league play, and surpassed last season's win total with Saturday's victory. The Greyhounds fall to 8-10 overall and 2-3 in league play with their third-straight league loss.

Vitoria Hemsath led Lehigh with her best performance of the season on a season-high 17 kills to go along with a team-high four total blocks. Ana Spangenberg also reached double-figures with her 16 kills to go along with a .300 attack percentage. Megan Polak finished with a match-high 40 assists to eclipse the 40-assist mark for the third time this season.

Lehigh came out strong and pulled away to a 25-16 victory in the first set. Hemsath paced LU with five kills in the frame on a .500 attack percentage. Sabrina Lancaster chipped in with four kills and Polak with three kills as she went 3-for-3 on her attacks. Leading 11-10, Lehigh broke open a comfortable 16-12 lead on a 5-1 run which was enough put the set on ice.

The Mountain Hawks needed to mount a comeback in order to win the second set, 25-22. Loyola looked to be in control after opening up a 13-9 lead. Out of a Lehigh timeout, LU began to chip away and pulled within one point of the lead following a 3-0 which forced Loyola to call timeout of their own. Out of the break, Lehigh opened up a 20-18 lead on a 4-1 run with a block and a kill by Hemsath. Lehigh managed to hold a slim lead to the finish and capped the set with another kill by Hemsath who finished the set with six kills.

The Greyhounds hit the ball very well in the third set as they compiled a .344 attack percentage and posted 16 kills to Lehigh's 11. The Mountain Hawks could not find a grove as they hit just .088 in the set and hit into four combined blocks by Loyola. Despite the lopsided attacking numbers, Lehigh managed to keep the set close the whole way, led by Spangenberg's five kills, but gave up a 5-1 run at the end after the set was tied, 21-21.

Lehigh regrouped and found its rhythm once again in the fourth set. LU began with a 7-2 run and then extended the lead to 13-4 following a Loyola timeout. The Mountain Hawks cruised on to a 25-14 victory as they compiled a .387 attack percentage, led by a combined 10 kills by Spangenberg and Hemsath.

Lehigh has two more matches to play before the first round of Patriot League matches is complete. The Mountain Hawks will face league leading Navy on the road on Tuesday night before returning home to take on Army West Point on Friday.
