Mountain Hawks Head to Pittsburgh for Panther Challenge

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh volleyball team will travel to the Panther Challenge hosted by the University of Pittsburgh for three matches begin with action kicking off on Friday.
The Mountain Hawks (3-7) will face Robert Morris (6-5) on Friday at 4:30 p.m. before facing Pittsburgh (7-2) at 11 a.m. on Saturday followed by Western Kentucky (9-2) at 4:30 p.m. All matches will be played at Fitzgerald Field House.
Lives stats will be available for all matches and the match against Pittsburgh will be streamed live on WatchESPN. Links for all live coverage are available on the event homepage. Admission is free for all matches.
Lehigh enters the weekend on a four-match losing streak after competing at the Bama Bash last weekend and against Villanova in a single match road contest earlier this week. The Mountain Hawks are 1-3 in neutral site matches this season and 0-3 in away matches.
Robert Morris enters Friday's competition with a 2-2 record dating back to last weekend with wins over Morgan State and UMBC, to go along with losses to Winthrop and Youngstown State. The Colonials are also 2-2 in neutral site games this year. The Mountain Hawks own a 4-2 advantage over Robert Morris in the all-time series and earned a 3-2 victory in the last meeting back in 2011.
The host Panthers enter the weekend with a 7-2 record and are receiving votes in the latest AVCA poll. Pitt went 2-1 last weekend at home in the Panther Invitational with wins over No. 22 Michigan and American, combined with a loss to Coastal Carolina. The Panthers are 2-0 against Lehigh in the all-time series, including a 3-1 win last year at the Panther Invitational.
Western Kentucky boasts a record of 9-2 entering the weekend and is receiving votes in the latest AVCA poll. The Hilltoppers are coming off a 2-1 performance at their own Holiday Inn University Plaza Invitational last weekend in which they defeated Southern Illinois and Cincinnati, and suffered a 3-2 loss to now ranked Michigan State. Western Kentucky is 3-1 in neutral site games this season. The Mountain Hawks are 1-0 against the Hilltoppers all-time with a 3-0 victory in 2012.
Following the Panther Challenge, the Mountain Hawks will return home for their Patriot League opener on Wednesday against rival Lafayette. The match is slated to start at 7 p.m. at Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall. Live stats will be provided along with live video on the Patriot League Network.
