
Three Mountain Hawks to compete at UWW Junior World Team Trials this weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Three Lehigh wrestlers will compete under the Lehigh Valley Wrestling Club banner this weekend at the UWW Junior Freestyle World Team Trials, Saturday and Sunday at the Irving Convention Center in Irving, Texas. Deferred freshmen Ryan Pomrinca and Jordan Kutler and Jordan Wood, recently announced as a member of Lehigh's 2016 recruiting class will be competing for a berth in the Junior World Championships, Aug. 30-Sept. 4 in Macon, France.

Pomrinca will compete at 66 kg, Kutler will wrestle 74 kg and Wood will compete at 120 kg.

Pomrinca finished seventh last month at the UWW Junior Freestyle Nationals in Las Vegas, going 4-2. This past season, Pomrinca deferred his eligibility and went 14-7 competing unattached in open tournaments at 133 and 141. He finished third at the East Stroudsburg Open and sixth at the Edinboro Open and also competed unattached at the Southern Scuffle.

Kutler went 10-2 in his deferred year, competing primarily at 157. He debuted by winning the Cleveland State Open in December and also went 3-2 at the prestigious Midlands Championships. Kutler went 5-2 to place fifth at 74 kg at last month's Junior Nationals.

Wood is one of the highest-rated members of Lehigh's incoming class. A 2015 state champion at 220, Wood amassed a 149-5 career record at Boyertown Area High School. Wood has experience on the international scene, winning a Cadet silver medal in freestyle in 2014 and finishing fifth at the Cadet World Championships last year.
