Ice Hockey Team Loses to Villanova

The Team loses an opportunity to clinch 2nd place in the ECHA
The Lehigh Ice Hockey team battled hard in a game with Villanova in Hatfield, PA.  Nova scored first on an early power play. The teams exchanged opportunities until Chris Ramondelli passed to Kevin McGee who stickhandled around a few defenders and got off a shot. The rebound came to Henry Brooks who scored the goal. With 30 seconds left in the period, Andrew Carlin made a save on a Nova shot and the rebound went right to a Nova player who fired the puck past a sprawling Carlin.
The Mountain Hawks started the second period down 2-1 and a new goalie in Patrick Walgren. Nova would score 3 goals in the second period to make the score 5-1 after 2 periods.
In the third period, Lehigh started gaining momentum. On the penalty kill, Adam Goldstein scored unassisted as he came down the left side of the ice and fired a shot past the Nova goalie. Ramondelli scored 30 seconds later when Henry Brooks skated around the net and threw a pass back door. Ramondelli one-timed it into te back of the net. With nine minutes to go in the game, McGee scored from Chris Ramondelli and Andrew Clayton to make the score 5-4. The Mountain Hawks worked hard to tie the game until Villanova scored with very little time left in the game. Final score 6-4.
The loss has Lehigh hoping that Towson loses one of its final games, So Lehigh gets second place and a first round bye in the playoffs. Â
