Carlin holds down the fort as Lehigh's offense explodes for 8 goals
After coming off a tough loss the previous night, Lehigh looked to rebound against a tough opponent in Towson. Prior to Saturday's game, Towson had won the previous six meetings. Determined to get off to a good start, the Mountain Hawks applied early pressure and got on the board first with a goal from Chris Ramondelli 3:19 into the game. The goal was assisted by Kevin McGee and Henry Brooks. Lehigh continued with the offense netting two more goals before the halfway point of the period. The first of two was scored by Alec Friedman from Evan Goldstein and Scott Mogerley, and the second was Henry Brooks from Chris Ramondelli and Joseph Ramondelli. Towson was able to respond with a goal with a little under two minutes to go in the first period. Lehigh would extend its lead to three with 15 seconds left in the period with a goal by Chris Ramondelli, assisted by Kevin McGee and Henry Brooks.Â

The second period started with a lot of back and forth play until Kevin McGee intercepted a pass in front of Towson's net and made no mistake, making it 5-1 in favor of Lehigh. Both teams would start getting into some penalty trouble after the goal and Towson was able to capitalize on a 5 on 3 advantage to cut the lead to 5-2. Lehigh responded a few minutes later with a powerplay goal of their own from Joseph Ramondelli, assisted by Andrew Clayton and Chris Ramondelli, to extend the lead to 6-2. Towson would respond with another powerplay goal late in the period to cut the lead to 6-3 before the second intermission.Â
Towson came out in the third pushing for the comeback but goalie Andrew Carlin kept shutting the door. Lehigh would capitalize on an opportunity halfway through the third period after a Kevin McGee and Chris Ramondelli executed a beautiful breakout and Henry Brooks finished it off with his second of the game to make it 7-3 Lehigh. Towson would add a goal to cut the lead to three with five minutes to go, but Adam Goldstein would ice the game with an empty net goal and Lehigh took the game 8-4. Goalie Andrew Carlin was spectacular in net, stopping 50 of Towson's 54 shots.Â
Lehigh now sits in second place in the ECHA standings, one point behind Navy. Both teams have 2 league games remaining. First place gets a bid to Nationals and it is going down to the wire. Lehigh returns to action Friday Night when they face Villanova in another critical league game. Puck drop is at 8 pm at the Steel Ice Center.Â
