
Volleyball Set to Host Weekend Patriot League Matches with Dig Pink on Friday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh Volleyball team will host two Patriot League matches this weekend at Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall as the second round of conference play is underway and the battle for PL seeding starts to intensify. The Mountain Hawks will face Loyola on Friday at 7 p.m. before squaring off against Navy on Saturday at 4 p.m. in a critical match as Lehigh is one match ahead of the Midshipmen in the conference standings.
Live video will only be available for Friday's match against Loyola, while live stats will provided for both matches this weekend.
The Mountain Hawks will also be holding their annual Dig Pink match on Friday against Loyola. Lehigh players will be accepting pledges for every dig recorded with all profits raised sent to the Sid-Out Foundation for breast cancer research. Also, Zeta Tau Alpha will be holding a bake sale prior to the match to coincide with their philanthropy efforts to support breast cancer awareness. Monetary donations to the Side-Out Foundation will also be accepted during the match. Everyone is reminded to wear their pink in support of breast cancer awareness.
Lehigh enters the weekend with an overall record of 11-12 and a 6-3 record in the Patriot League. LU currently sits fourth in the PL standings with American, Army West Point and Colgate holding the top three spots. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a dramatic five-set victory over rival Lafayette on the road on Tuesday night as they completed the season sweep over the Leopards. Lehigh will look to keep the momentum going this weekend and also pull off season sweeps over both Loyola and Navy.
Loyola enters Friday's match with an overall record of 4-15 and a 1-7 record in the Patriot League. The Greyhounds rank eighth out of nine teams in the PL standings and have dropped their last five matches, all to the hands of conference opponents. Loyola's last victory was a 3-1 win over Holy Cross on the road on September 30.
Navy boasts an overall record of 15-5 with a record of 5-3 in the conference. The Mids currently sit fifth in the Patriot League standings and are just one match behind Lehigh as the Mountain Hawks defeated Navy on its home court, 3-1, earlier this season. The Mids enter the weekend as winners of four-straight with all victories over Patriot League opponents, including a 3-0 victory at home over Army. Navy will make a stop at Bucknell on Friday before traveling to Lehigh for the match on Saturday.

Loyola is 1-6 on the road this season with a 1-2 record against PL opponents in road matches. Navy is 3-2 in true road matches this season with a 0-2 mark against conference opponents in those matches.
