
Lehigh Wraps Up Homestand with Two Weekend Matches

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh volleyball team will wrap up its three-match homestand at Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall this weekend with two Patriot League matches. The Mountain Hawks will face Holy Cross on Friday night at 7 p.m. before squaring off against Army West Point on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Live stream only be available for Friday's match against Holy Cross, while live stats will be available on both Friday and Saturday.
Lehigh is 4-2 in the Patriot League, tied with Army West Point for third place, and has an overall record of 9-11. LU started out 4-0 in its PL slate, but has lost the last two matches to Colgate and American, the top two teams in the conference.
The Mountain Hawks rank fifth in the Patriot League with a .172 hitting percentage. LU is 6-0 this season in matches with a .200 or higher hitting percentage. Freshman Jessica Donaldson ranks fifth in the PL with a 2.88 kills-per-set average and junior Kelly Bennett ranks second in the conference with .356 hitting percentage. Sophomore Megan Polak ranks fifth in the Patriot League with 7.91 assists per set and sophomore Emily Develle ranks fourth in the PL with 4.11 digs per set.
Holy Cross is 1-5 in the Patriot League and 4-13 overall. The Crusaders recorded their first PL win of the season last Saturday against Lafayette, which ended an eight-match losing streak leading up to that match.
The Crusaders rank seventh in the Patriot League with a .166 team hitting percentage. HC is led offensively by Mandy Sifferlen who ranks first in the Patriot League with 4.91 kills per set. Lizzie Webb ranks fourth in the Patriot League with 8.74 assists per set and M.C. Magner ranks second in the PL with 4.20 digs per set.
Army West Point is 4-2 in the Patriot League and 12-8 overall entering the weekend. The Black Knights will be on the final leg of a four-match PL road trip when they arrive in Bethlehem, Pa. on Saturday. Army suffered a 3-0 loss to Navy to open the trip, but then rebounded with a 3-0 against Lafayette the next day. The Black Knights will face Bucknell on Friday night before traveling to Lehigh.
Sydney Morriss leads a trio of Black Knights ranked inside the top-five in the Patriot League with a .356 hitting percentage. Vanessa Wesley ranks seventh in the PL with 2.64 kills per set and ranks fourth with a .337 hitting percentage. Haven Bethune ranks third in the PL with 9.38 assists per set and Megan Bryn ranks eighth in the conference with 3.44 digs per set.
The Mountain Hawks are 5-1 on their home floor this season, including a 2-0 record against Patriot League opponents. The Crusaders are 1-4 on the road with a 1-1 record in PL road contests. The Black Knights are 4-1 away from West Point, N.Y. and are 2-1 in conference road matches.
Lehigh is 38-11 all-time against Holy Cross and has won the last 16-straight meetings with the Crusaders. The las time LU lost to Holy Cross was in 2007 and the last home to loss was in 2006.
Army leads the all-time series with Lehigh, 35-15, with a 6-4 advantage in the last 10 meetings. The Mountain Hawks have won the last three meetings with the Black Knights at home.
