Volleyball Starts Series of Three Home Matches with Tuesday Tilt Against George Washington

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's volleyball team will embark on a three-match home stand on Tuesday night beginning with a nonconference match against George Washington at 7 p.m.

The Mountain Hawks return home to Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace hall with an overall record of 8-11 and are coming off a road loss to preseason Patriot League favorite American last Friday night. In the month of October, Lehigh is 0-2 with both losses to Patriot League opponents after starting 4-0 to open PL play. The Mountain Hawks are in a three-way tie for second place in the Patriot League with a conference record of 4-2.
Lehigh is 4-9 in nonconference matches this season and is 2-1 at home against opponents outside of the Patriot League. The Mountain Hawks defeated St. Peter's and Fairleigh Dickinson in 3-0 sweeps and lost to Providence by a score of 3-2 in nonconference home matches this season.
The Colonials enter Tuesday night's matchup with an overall record of 6-13 and are coming off losses to Atlantic 10 foes Davidson and Virginia Commonwealth this past weekend to extend their losing streak to nine-straight matches. GW last won a match on September 10 in a 3-0 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore. The Colonials are 0-6 in the Atlantic 10 and are joined by La Salle and George Mason who are also winless in conference play.
George Washington is 6-7 in nonconference matches this season and is 2-2 against nonconference opponents on the road. The Colonials have nonconference road wins over Seton Hall and Loyola (Md.) with losses to Virginia and Washington State.
Lehigh and George Washington have both faced Fordham and Loyola (Md.) this season. Both teams recorded victories over Loyola as Lehigh won 3-0 on September 24 and George Washington earned a 3-1 victory on September 6. LU lost to Fordham 3-2 in the season opener, while GW suffered a 3-0 loss to the Rams two weeks ago.
The Mountain Hawks are hitting .164 for the season with 11.9 kills per set. The Colonials have a hitting percentage of .215 for the season with an average of 12.4 kills per set. LU is recording 1.7 blocks and 13.9 digs per set, while GW is blocking 2.2 and digging 11.2 attacks per set.
Freshman Jessica Donaldson leads Lehigh with 2.66 kills per set and is hitting .165 for the season. Senior Chidima Osuchukwu leads George Washington with 2.98 kills per set with a hitting percentage of 3.49 for the season.
Lehigh is 0-2 against George Washington in the all-time series with meetings in 1979 and 2015. The Colonials won last season's meeting, 3-0, at Pittsburgh's Panther Challenge.
