BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a long four-game road swing, the Lehigh men's basketball team returns home on Saturday for the first time since Nov. 19 when the Mountain Hawks welcome Rochester College at 2 p.m. Lehigh is coming off an 84-73 loss at Saint Francis (Pa.) Wednesday night. Junior Tim Kempton led the offense with 18 points and is now just six points shy of 1,000 in his career.

The Red Flash turned a tight first half into a double-figure second-half lead, but the Mountain Hawks responded on several occasions. Lehigh used a 9-2 run to pull within three with 13:04 remaining, then later used six straight Kempton points to pull within six (68-62) with 4:19 on the clock. In the end, a nearly five-minute scoreless drought in the middle stages of the second half proved large. There were bright spots in the loss, including on the glass as Lehigh outrebounded an opponent for the first time this season, holding a 34-33 edge. Senior Justin Goldsborough grabbed seven rebounds off the bench, to go with six points, while Kempton added nine boards. Senior Devon Carter also posted a career-high four rebounds.

Four Mountain Hawks tallied double-figure points, including sophomore Kahron Ross who scored 16 points and dished eight assists. Junior Austin Price knocked down four three-pointers to finish with 12 points while senior Jesse Chuku had 11 points. Freshman Kyle Leufroy also contributed eight points off the bench. As a team, the Mountain Hawks blocked a season-high eight shots, led by two apiece from Goldsborough, Chuku and Price.

On Saturday, Kempton is looking to become the 33rd player in Lehigh history to reach 1,000 career points. The last to reach 1,000 points was Mackey McKnight on Nov. 26, 2013. He looks to become the first non-senior to reach the milestone since Gabe Knutson hit 1,000 late his junior season. C.J. McCollum reached the 1,000 point plateau in January of his sophomore year.

Rochester College is nationally-ranked in the NAIA poll, currently undefeated on the season at 8-0. The Warriors do have three Division I opponents on their schedule, dropping a tight 85-73 final at Western Michigan, facing Lehigh Saturday and Eastern Michigan next Tuesday. Those games count as exhibitions for Rochester College, but are official regular season games for the Division I teams. Rochester was leading Western Michigan late in the first half and within five points with 5:54 remaining, but the Broncos pulled away for the victory. Most recently, the Warriors defeated Indiana University-Kokomo on Thursday, 70-53. Rochester is led by point guard Paris Pereira, who averages 14.5 points and 4.8 assists per contest. Justin Nafso is next at 13.3 points per contest while Nick Tutu averages 9.5. The team is scoring 75.5 points per game and has tallied 9.6 steals per contest.

Lehigh and Rochester College will meet for the first time on Saturday.

The Mountain Hawks will enjoy a 12-day break of games for final exams before returning to action on Thursday, Dec. 17 at Robert Morris.
