Ice Hockey Team Wins Two During Trip to New York

The Lehigh Ice Hockey team travelled to New York and picked up 2 wins beating Binghamton and Rochester Institute of Technology. 

The game against Binghamton was played in the Floyd Meade Arena, home to the Ottawa Senators affiliate in the AHL.  Lehigh gave up the first 2 goals but battled back to win convincingly, 9-6.

From there, Lehigh travelled to Rochester to face RIT.  Details of the game are provided below from the RIT team manager.

Mogerley's goals lift M1 Lehigh University to 8-5 victory over M1 Rochester Institute of Technology

Scott Mogerley was all over the ice for the M1 Lehigh University Mountain Hawks, as he tallied two goals in M1 Lehigh University's 8-5 win over the M1 Rochester Institute of Technolog Tigers.  Mogerley scored at 9:18 into the second period to make the score 3-1 M1 Lehigh University and again while 9:44 into the third to make the score 6-4 M1 Lehigh University.

The Mountain Hawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. M1 Lehigh University's offense rang up 41 shots on M1 Rochester Institute of Technolog's net. The Mountain Hawks' goal total was higher than their season average. M1 Lehigh University averages 4.7 goals per game.

M1 Lehigh University additionally got points from Kevin McGee, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Evan Goldstein, who also had one goal and one assist, and Joseph Ramondelli, who also registered one goal and one assist. M1 Lehigh University also had goals scored by Henry Brooks, Brian Loughran, and Alec Friedman, who each put in one. In addition, M1 Lehigh University received assists fromChristopher Ramondelli, who had three, Andrew Clayton and Stephen Flego, who contributed one each, and Adam Goldstein and stephen Friedman, who each chipped in two.

The Tigers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Mountain Hawks to score on any of their six power plays. M1 Rochester Institute of Technolog forced M1 Lehigh University goalie Aidan Talgo to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. The Tigers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, M1 Rochester Institute of Technolog averages 0.8 goals per contest.

Talgo recorded 34 saves for the Mountain Hawks. M1 Lehigh University incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. M1 Rochester Institute of Technolog's Curran Allison stopped 33 shots out of the 41 that he faced. The Tigers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.


The Ice Hockey team improved its record to 5-6 with two important league games against Penn State Berks scheduled for the coming weekend.?
