ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Lehigh women's swimming and diving team put forth a strong showing on the second day of the Patriot League Championships Thursday at Navy's Lejeune Hall. New school records were set in all four women's events as the Mountain Hawks moved from ninth place into sixth place after two days of competition.

Freshman Kaitlyn Ruffing broke teammate Carolyn Koch's school record in the 50 yard freestyle in the morning preliminary session, then broke her own record at night to finish second in the event. Ruffing took half a second off Koch's record time of 23.66 by swimming 23.16 in the morning. In the finals, Ruffing clocked in at 23 seconds flat to finish just .02 behind Patriot League Champion Molly Mucciarone of Army. Koch also established a personal best with a time of 23.64 in the preliminaries but had to settle for a spot in the B Final, where she finished 12th overall with a time of 23.79 seconds.

Sophomore Courtney Patterson opened the morning session by breaking her own school record in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:52.38. In the finals, Patterson finished with a time of 4:55.43 to finish in eight place. Freshman Cora Summerfield finished sixth in the 500 free with a time of 4:53.24.

In the 200 yard individual medley freshman Kelly Carroll broke Linda Hendrixson's ten year old school record, clocking in at 2:05.70 to finish third in the B Final and 11th overall.

In the final women's event Thursday night, Koch, Carroll and Ruffing teamed with sophomore Rebekah Campo to smash the school record by 3.5 seconds as they finished in 1:33.88 to grab third place.
