Lehigh loses to Penn State Berks 6-3

11/8/2014 2:49:00 AM | Men's Ice Hockey (ACHA D1)

The Mountain Hawks went into tonights contest against Penn State Berks hoping to add another ECHA division victory to their record.  Unfortuneately the Ice Lions had other plans.  Berks was able to put two goals in during the first period, as well as hold Lehigh scoreless.  This turned out to be a very important factor for the rest of the game.  Lehigh was able to come out in the second period and score two goals.  The first of these was at the 5:18 mark when Kevin McGee was able to sneak one past Berks goaltender Justin Golia, assisted by Joseph Ramondelli and Chris Ramondelli.  The Mountain Hawks were again able to score at 15:32 of the second off a Henry Brooks goal, assisted by Chris Ramondelli and Stephen Flego.  The Ice Lions also were able to put two past Lehigh goalie Patrick Walgren in the second, and went into the locker room with a 4-2 lead.  Lehigh came out of the locker for the third period looking ready and determined to send the visitors from Reading home with another loss.  This was shown at the 3:50 mark of the third period when Adam Goldstein fired a shot into the net, assisted by Chris Ramondelli and Kevin McGee.  Things were looking promising at this point as the Mountain Hawks had come to within one goal of tieing the Ice Lions.  The Goldstein goal would unfortuneately be the last goal of the night for Lehigh.  Penn State Berks was able to put two more past Walgren and left Bethlehem with a 6-3 victory.

A couple key notes for the Mountain Hawks after tonights game:

Chris Ramondelli had another big point night.  CRAM's 3 assists tonight give him a total of 22 points in the 11 games so far this season.  (10 goals, 12 assists)

Kevin McGee had a goal and an assist tonight to put him in a close second place on the team in points with 20.  (6 goals, 14 assists)

Tomorrow the boys will be on the road to Newark New Jersey to take on the Highlanders from New Jersey Institute of Technology.  Puck drop at the Prudential Center is set for 6:30PM.  You can follow Lehigh Ice Hockey on twitter (@LUIcehockey) to get live updates from the NJIT game.
