Â
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh women's soccer junior Paige Elliott has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team and is now in the running for Academic All-America recognition, as announced on Thursday. The team was selected by CoSIDA, the College Sports Information Directors of America. Elliott owns a stellar 3.99 cumulative GPA as a Chemical Engineering major, excelling in the classroom and on the playing field.
Â
Elliott was named to the District 2 Team which encompasses the Mid-Atlantic. The Apison, Tennessee native is one of just two Patriot Leaguers recognized on an Academic All-District Team, joining Katie Holder of Army who made the District 1 Team.
Â
Elliott is Lehigh's first Academic All-District honoree since both Liz Carlos and Glynn Fitzer were recognized in 2010. Elliott has played in 14 of the team's 15 games this season in the backfield, helping spearhead a strong Lehigh defense that's allowed just 15 goals in 15 games. The Mountain Hawks have allowed just five goals through the first eight Patriot League games, with one game remaining at Holy Cross Saturday. Elliott has also contributed to the offensive attack, dishing two assists.
Â
Owning a perfect 4.0 GPA in three of her four semesters so far, Elliott has made the Dean's List every semester and the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll while garnering the Faculty Athletics Council Award as well. She's contributed from day one at Lehigh, earning first team All-Patriot League honors as a freshman.
Â
Elliott and the other first-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first, second and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Â
Elliott and the Mountain Hawks travel to Holy Cross on Saturday eying a win to clinch a Patriot League Tournament berth. Opening kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
