BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following his second-career double-double last Monday, Lehigh men's basketball freshman Tim Kempton has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced on Monday. Kempton scored 13 points while adding 10 rebounds as the Mountain Hawks topped three-time defending NEC Champion LIU Brooklyn, 76-69. Kempton becomes Lehigh's second Rookie of the Week after Austin Price won the award on Nov. 11.
Lehigh trailed for only 41 seconds for its fourth straight victory and fifth in the last six games. Kempton recorded a double-double for the second time in his last three games, after posting 18 points and 15 rebounds at Saint Francis (Pa.) Dec. 4.
Kempton grabbed seven of his 10 rebounds in the second half on Monday, including a big offensive rebound and ensuing layup with 2:41 remaining to give the Mountain Hawks a three possession, 71-64 lead. He added three assists and a block as well. Kempton now has 44 points and 33 rebounds over his last three games to up his season averages to 13.5 and 6.1, respectively.
