BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh field hockey sophomore Lindsay Metzger was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after scoring four goals over two games. On Sunday, Metzger scored three goals on her 20th birthday to lead Lehigh past Towson, 6-3. The Mountain Top, Pa. native also scored a goal on Friday at Fairfield and now leads the Patriot League with five goals on the season.

The hat trick was the first of Metzger's career while she became the first Patriot League player to record a hat trick this season and first Mountain Hawk to do so since Caitlin Donnelly on Sept. 15, 2010 vs. Saint Joseph's. Metzger scored all three of her goals in the first half to help Lehigh jump out to a 5-0 lead over the Tigers.

Metzger also added a goal in a 4-2 loss at Fairfield Friday and now leads the team (and league) with five goals and is tied for first in the Patriot League with 11 points (along with teammate Kim Eng). Metzger converted four of her nine shots last week, helping Lehigh score its most goals (6) since Oct. 23, 2004, a 6-4 win at Bucknell.
Metzger is the first Mountain Hawk to be named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week since Sept. 12, 2011 when Abby Tilton received the honor.

The Mountain Hawks will return to action Friday when they host #8 Penn State at 6 p.m. Lehigh will then hit the road to play Georgetown in a neutral site contest at the University of Maryland.
