Lehigh tied for second in initial Presidents' Cup standings

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League announced its initial Presidents' Cup standings on Tuesday with Lehigh tied for second overall at the completion of the fall season. Lehigh checks in with 32 points and tops the men's overall standings with 16 points. The Mountain Hawk women are tied for fifth place with 16 points.
Colgate currently leads the standings with 37.75 points, after capturing league titles in football, women's soccer and volleyball. Lehigh is tied with American with 32 points, followed by Bucknell, Navy, Army, Lafayette and Holy Cross. The fall sports season includes football, field hockey, men's and women's soccer, volleyball and men's and women's cross country.
Lehigh's men's cross country program captured its first Patriot League Championship to help vault the Mountain Hawks to the top of the men's standings. The Mountain Hawks have 16 points, one better than Colgate. American is third with 13.5 points followed by Lafayette, Bucknell, Holy Cross, Navy and Army.
In the women's standings, Colgate is out in front with 22.75 points followed by Navy, American and Bucknell. Lehigh is tied for fifth with Army at 16 points. The Mountain Hawks qualified for the Patriot League tournament in women's soccer and volleyball and finished in the top four in women's cross country. Lafayette and Holy Cross occupy the bottom two spots.
Presidents' Cup points are based by a team's performance in the regular season and postseason. Lehigh has yet to capture the Presidents' Cup, but the Mountain Hawks are coming off a second place overall finish in 2012, Lehigh's best finish since 2001. Lehigh won the 2012 men's title for the fourth time overall and the first time since 2006.
