Fratoni named Patriot League Rookie of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a three-assist weekend, Lehigh field hockey freshman Steph Fratoni has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. Fratoni assisted on three of the Mountain Hawks' five goals last week, including junior Kim Eng's game-winning goal against Colgate on Saturday. Eng and sophomore goalkeeper Sierra Segear were also recognized with honorable mention laurels.
Fratoni tallied her first-career assist on Saturday against Colgate, making a nifty pass off a penalty corner to set up Eng for the go-ahead (and eventual game-winning) goal at 55:26. She then went on to set up Lehigh's first goal on Sunday against Cornell, making a similar connection to Eng to tie the score at one. That marked Fratoni's second assist in a span of 36:34 of game action. Fratoni also assisted on Lehigh's second goal less than seven minutes later, also coming off a corner.
The Media, Pa. native has contributed on both ends of the field, posting a goal and three assists on the season, good for five points (tied for fourth on the team). Fratoni also has five defensive saves (second).
Meanwhile, Eng earned honorable mention laurels after upping her goal streak to three straight games. She scored the game-winner on Saturday against Colgate before tying the score at one against Cornell Sunday. Eng currently leads the team with eight goals and 18 points on the season.
A two-time Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week, Segear earned honorable mentioned accolades for her stellar 11-save performance on Saturday. She only allowed one goal to help Lehigh pull out a crucial 2-1 victory to pull even at 1-1 in league play. Segear went on to make six saves on Sunday against Cornell, five coming in the first half.
The Mountain Hawks return to action on Wednesday when they host Penn at 7 p.m. That precedes a Saturday afternoon showdown against league rival Bucknell, which will mark Lehigh's Senior Day; Caitlin Donnelly, Madison Ingal, Allison Kowalski and Abby Tilton will be honored prior to the 1 p.m. start.
