Lehigh drops a pair at Sacred Heart Invite

“Taylor was tremendous offensively and defensively this weekend,” Lehigh head coach Jenny Maurer said. “She's been great from the service line and is making huge strides blocking.”
Freshman Courtney McCutchan, the reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Week, posted a pair of strong performances Saturday, registering eight kills and 16 digs vs. Jacksonville and 10 kills and 15 digs vs. Dartmouth. Junior Angelika Kopacz also chipped in a double-double against Dartmouth with 17 kills and 11 digs.
Rachel Charles led Lehigh with 20 digs and added two service aces, while junior Jessica Kudirka posted a team-best 21 assists.
In the first match of the day against Jacksonville, the Dolphins earned victories in the first set (25-16) and the second set (25-22) before Lehigh battled back to win the third by a 25-22 margin. In the next match, the Mountain Hawks started fast and defeated Dartmouth by a 25-18 count in the first set. The Big Green roared back to win the next three sets, 25-21, 25-22 and 25-18 to deal Lehigh its third straight loss. Kudirka posted a double-double with 24 assists and 13 digs, while freshman Dana Raber fell just one dig short of a double-double with 24 assists and nine digs.
“We were struggling to play at our normal pace,” Maurer said about the Dartmouth match. “We have to find our consistency and iron things out.”
