BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Despite losing two of the first three sets, the Lehigh volleyball team battled back to top St. Peter's by a 3-2 score on Wednesday at Leeman-Turner Arena. Junior Jessica Kudirka tallied a season-high 42 assists to go along with 10 digs, while junior Angelika Kopacz recorded her sixth double-double with 17 kills and 16 digs. The Mountain Hawks improve to 6-6 with the victory.

St. Peter's edged Lehigh in the first set, 25-22, but Lehigh responded in the second frame with a 25-23 win. The Peahens dominated the third set, hitting .545 en route to a 25-14 win, but once again Lehigh fought back to win the fourth set, 25-20, and the deciding fifth set, 15-8.

"This was definitely our worst-played match of the year," Lehigh head coach Jenny Maurer said. "Despite that, we managed to keep fighting and grind it out."

The Brown and White received another strong contribution from freshman Courtney McCutchan, who added her sixth double-double of the year with a 14-kill, 12-dig effort. Sophomore Taylor Poole chipped in a strong all-around effort as well with 11 kills, two service aces, five digs and six blocks.

"I attribute our ability to pull out a win to the success we've had earlier in the season," Maurer explained. "We can fall back on the fact that most of the time, we're much better. We knew it was just a matter of when we'd pull it out, not whether we'd pull it out."

Kassi Wirth led the Peahens with 11 kills and Anna Molokotina added a double-double with 28 assists and 12 digs. St. Peter's hit .212 as a team in the match, while Lehigh hit .179. Both teams recorded seven blocks.

Winners of three of their last four matches, the Mountain Hawks will hit the road for the start of conference play next week. The Brown and White travel to Army on September 24, before taking on Holy Cross the following day.
