BETHLEHEM, Pa. – One day after winning the first Patriot League Championship in school history, the Lehigh women's soccer team learned that it will travel to Virginia to play the host Cavaliers in the NCAA First Round on Friday. Lehigh (11-4-4) and Virginia (13-4-2) square off at 5 p.m. prior to an 8 p.m. matchup featuring South Carolina (14-5-4) against UNC Greensboro (19-1-1). The winners will play in Sunday's Regional Final.

“Virginia is a great team,” said Lehigh head coach Eric Lambinus. “It'll be awesome to play an ACC school on their home field in the NCAA Tournament. It's an experience that none of these girls have ever had.

“I think we're prepared for it,” he continued. “I think it's a good matchup for us. It'll be such an exciting event. I'm glad we have a week to prepare for them.”

Virginia received one of four No. 2 national seeds. The Cavaliers were ranked as high as fifth in the NSCAA Top 25 during the regular season before falling in the ACC Tournament to Boston College.

The Mountain Hawks defeated Army on Sunday to win their first Patriot League Championship and with it, their first-ever NCAA Tournament berth.

Lehigh and Virginia have never met. The Mountain Hawks did face Virginia Tech out of the ACC last season, hanging tough before falling to the Hokies by only a 1-0 final. The teams also have one common opponent this season, with each defeating Colgate.

With a win, the Mountain Hawks would advance to the Regional Final, which is scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m.

“I would hope our mindset is to go down there to win a game,” said Lambinus. “You don't get into the tournament and not try to win it. You never know. Upsets have happened all the time, so we're excited about the opportunity [in front of us].”

Tickets for each round are $9 for reserved seats, $7 for adult general admission, and $5 for youth/student/senior citizen general admission. Fans can order tickets for the tournament online at VirginiaSports.com and by phone through the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office at 800-542-UVA1 (8821) or 434-924-UVA1 (8821). Tickets are also available at the gate beginning one hour prior to the start of play each day.

Game-day parking is $5 per day. Parking is available at the Cage Lot and Emmet/Ivy Garage on Friday and at University Hall on Sunday.
