LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – In its first action in two weeks, Lehigh's women's swimming and diving team fell to Rider 154-139 Saturday at Coppola pool. The Mountain Hawks won four individual events, with freshman Meredith Bayer taking two, but Lehigh suffered its second straight loss and falls to 2-2 on the season, while the Broncs win their first meet and move to 1-3.
Of the four events won by Lehigh, three were Mountain Hawk sweeps of the top three spots. Three of the four wins also came from freshmen.
Lehigh's other area of success on the day was the breaststroke events where the Mountain Hawks swept the 100 and 200 yard events. Freshman Stephanie Yaszemski won the 100 in 1:08.37 with sophomores Emily DiDonato and Danielle Caruso taking second and third. DiDonato won the 200 in 2:28.51, followed by Caruso and then Yaszemski.
Lehigh managed to keep the meet close with several second-third and second-third-fourth finishes to pick up key points.
The Mountain Hawks will be off next weekend and will return to the pool on Friday, November 19 when they head to Easton for the annual Lehigh-Lafayette swim meet.
