Mains earns national honor, Lehigh moves up rankings following PL Title

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh senior goalkeeper Lauren Mains was named one of College Soccer 360's Primetime Performers of the Week, while the Mountain Hawks moved up to No. 6 in the final NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Rankings released on Tuesday. The Patriot League Tournament MVP, Mains was one of 17 players in the nation recognized on the weekly honor roll.
Mains becomes the second Lehigh player to earn recognition as a CS 360 Primetime Performer of the Week. Fellow senior Natalie Hojnacki was the first on Oct. 13 after scoring three of Lehigh's five goals in wins against Colgate and Bucknell.
A native of Scotch Plains, N.J., Mains stopped all 13 shots she faced over two Patriot League Tournament games to earn MVP honors. It marked her second and third consecutive shutouts, respectively, to up her season total to four and career total to 18. She owns a 0.89 GAA and .818 save percentage on the year.
The Mountain Hawks defeated Army on Sunday to win their first Patriot League Championship in school history. They defeated Bucknell by the same 1-0 final on Friday. The championship performance bumped Lehigh all the way to No. 6 in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Rankings, its highest all season.
Lehigh is preparing for its NCAA First Round Game hosted by Virginia on Friday. The Mountain Hawks play the host Cavaliers with UNC-Greensboro and South Carolina facing off in the nightcap. The winners will play in the regional final on Sunday at 1 p.m. Friday will mark Lehigh's first ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
