Tickets to Cornell, Drexel matches going fast

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh Athletics has announced that tickets to the Lehigh-Cornell wrestling match, scheduled for Thursday, January 20 and Lehigh's season-opener versus Drexel on Friday, November 5, are selling very quickly. The lower level of Stabler Arena is nearly sold out for the Cornell match, and the home opener versus Drexel inside Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall is filling quickly due to Drexel's seven wrestlers from the Lehigh Valley, as well as this being Jack Childs' last visit to Grace Hall after 33 seasons as Head Coach of the Dragons.
“With Cornell's potential No. 1 preseason rank, and our team being away from home for almost six weeks leading up to that dual, we expect these tickets to be in high demand. Early sales figures have proven that to be true,” said Lehigh Director of Ticket Operations Rich Haas '00. “This is a dual that wrestling fans will not want to miss.”
Lehigh and Cornell battled to a 15-15 tie in Ithaca, NY last season. Lehigh has won 90 percent of its duals (39-4-1) in Pat Santoro's first two seasons as head coach. The Mountain Hawks return four NCAA qualifiers including EIWA Champion and All-American heavyweight Zach Rey for the 2010-11 season.
As part of a packed sports weekend in Stabler Arena, the Mountain Hawks will face rival Michigan on Friday, November 19. Stabler will host the first-ever Lehigh-Lafayette Viewing Party on a 25-foot screen on Saturday, and the two-time defending Patriot League Champion women's basketball team puts their 33-game home winning streak on the line against Princeton. Men's Basketball hosts Sweet-16 participant Cornell on Monday night to cap the four-day stretch of Lehigh Athletics excitement at Stabler Arena.There are also six home dates in Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall, including December 12 match versus nationally-ranked Central Michigan.
The action kicks off with the annual Wrestle-Offs on October 28. Due to Leeman-Turner Arena's smaller capacity compared to Stabler Arena, fans are encouraged to purchase tickets for any of the Grace Hall matches early before they sell out.
Afforable tickets are also on sale for all home matches. Tickets in historic Grace Hall are only $8 in the upper level, and just $7 for groups of 20 or more. Stabler Arena tickets start at just $5 for the upper level.
