BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second time in as many weeks Lehigh freshman forward Kim Eng was recognized as the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Eng had a hand in all three goals as the Mountain Hawks picked up their second victory of the season, 3-1 at Saint Francis (Pa.) last Wednesday and was Lehigh’s top offensive threat in a losing effort against Cornell on Sunday.

Eng’s performance against Saint Francis marked the second straight game in which she had a hand in all three goals. She scored two goals and added an assist in a win over Georgetown on September 12 and followed it up with a goal and two assists in the victory over the Red Flash. Eng scored her second consecutive game winning goal against Saint Francis, capping off a breakaway run down the field with her fifth goal of the season to put Lehigh in front with just over 22 minutes remaining.

Prior to Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Cornell, Eng had scored in three straight games. Although Lehigh’s offense was kept off the scoreboard on Sunday, Eng was credited with five of the Mountain Hawks’ seven shots including four shots on goal in the second half.

For the season, Eng leads the Mountain Hawks with five goals and 13 points. The New Jersey native has tallied at least one goal in all four games in which Lehigh has scored. Eng leads the Patriot League in points per game and shots, and ranks second in goals, assists and overall points.

The Mountain Hawks (2-4) will return to action on Saturday when they continue their six-game home stand against La Salle. Game time is set for 7 p.m. from Ulrich Field.
