BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Tickets to the Lehigh-Penn State wrestling match, scheduled for Friday, November 13, went on sale Wednesday and are selling very quickly, Lehigh Athletics announced on Thursday. Lehigh typically draws one of its larger crowds to Stabler Arena for its long-time rival Nittany Lions, and with the Mountain Hawks’ 23-1 dual season a year ago combined with Penn State’s hiring of Cael Sanderson as head coach, there is an added buzz surrounding this year’s match.
“This is the highest level of first-day ticket demand since the Oklahoma State match [a sellout] in 2005” said Lehigh Director of Ticket Operations Rich Haas. “Wrestling fans from all over the northeast have shown that they want to be in the house the night Cael Sanderson joins this historic rivalry.”
Lehigh recommends fans purchase tickets to the Penn State match quickly, as the lower level is nearly all sold, and the middle level is going fast. Lehigh expects a large turnout of youth wrestling groups from all over eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey to be in attendance, as well as a strong contingent from State College, so tickets are in high demand.
Tickets are also on sale for all home matches, including a second match in Stabler Arena this season, when the Mountain Hawks host Rutgers on February 6. There are also six home dates in Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall, including the home opener versus Rider on November 8. Tickets for the home opener have also been moving quickly, as fans seek an early look at the Mountain Hawks first home action of the season following Wrestle-Offs on October 30. Due to Grace Hall having a smaller capacity than Stabler Arena, fans are encouraged to purchase tickets for any Grace Hall matches early before they sell out.
