Two named All-League; Lehigh places fourth

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Sophomore Duncan Zeiders and senior captain Shane Gilroy earned spots on the 2009 All-Patriot League Second-Team as Zeiders shot a 224 (73, 73, 78) and Gilroy totaled a 226 (78, 73, 75) as Lehigh wrapped up competition at the Patriot League Championship on Sunday at the West Point Golf Course.  Lehigh shot an 899 as a team (296, 299, 304) and placed fourth in the team standings, while Bucknell won the team championship with a score of 884 (295, 297, 292).  Navy finished second in the team standings with an 889 (287, 302, 300) and the Midshipmen were followed by Army (286, 302, 303 = 891), Lehigh, Lafayette (299, 304, 308 = 911), Colgate (310, 310, 303 = 923) and Holy Cross (316, 314, 322 = 952).

 

Other Mountain Hawks that competed throughout the weekend included Steve Suarez (75, 78, 75) and Dwight D’Iorio (77, 75, 76) who tied for 11th place, Will Robinson who tied for 16th after shooting a 230 (72, 79, 79) and Doug Marcincin who shot a 234 (76, 78, 80) and tied for 23rd place.  Lehigh’s pair of All-Patriot League selections are its most since the 2007 season when the Mountain Hawks also had two honorees.

 

Andrew Cohen from Bucknell took top individual honors after shooting a 208 (71, 68, 69), while Army’s Matt Krembel placed second with a 216 (70, 71, 75) and Navy’s David Miller (69, 76, 76) and Ryan Wielgus (71, 73, 77) tied for third with identical scores of 221.
