Lehigh returns to action Monday at Longwood

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh returns to action Monday night as the Mountain Hawks begin a two-game road trip in Virginia versus the Lancers of Longwood at Willett Hall. Lehigh has been off since downing Marist 66-55 on December 22 at home. Three Mountain Hawks hit for double figures in the win, including Marquis Hall (16), Zahir Carrington (12) and Gabe Knutson (11). Carrington, who sits only 10 points away from 1,000 for his career, also added a season best 13 rebounds, while as a team the Mountain Hawks shot a season high 33 foul shots. Longwood also played on December 22 and the Lancers came away with an 88-80 victory over Campbell at home. Five players scored in double digits that night with Antwan Carter’s 19 tallies leading the way.
Lehigh has done a nice job at the free throw line during the early going as the Mountain Hawks have sunk 75% of their chances (184-247). Eight players are shooting better than 70% at the stripe, led by Justin Maneri who is shooting 90.9%. Last year Lehigh shot just 68% at the foul line with just only players shooting over 70%.
In their game at Saint Joseph’s the Mountain Hawks recorded a season-high 11 steals, including a career-best five thefts by senior captain Marquis Hall. The 11 steals were Lehigh’s most since totaling 13 in the opener at Saint Peter’s last season (Nov, 2008).
Monday’s game will begin at 7:00 from Willett Hall in Virginia. The contest will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320 as well as Lehighsports.com with Matt Kerr providing the commentary. Pre-game coverage gets underway at 6:30.
