BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh travels to New York City on Thursday evening as the Mountain Hawks take on the Columbia Lions at Levien Gym. Lehigh had its three-game win streak snapped on Monday as the Stony Brook Seawolves dealt the Mountain Hawks a 71-52 defeat at Stabler Arena. Sophomore John Adams came off the bench to score a career-best 13 points, including three three-pointers, but Stony Brook placed three players in double figures and scored 47 first half points en route to the road win. Columbia is also looking to bounce back following a 60-55 setback at Sacred Heart on Monday. Noruwa Agho was one of three Lions in double figures as he netted a team-best 16 points, but Sacred Heart hit ten three-pointers to send Columbia to its second consecutive loss.
Through six games Lehigh has sunk 45 three-pointers, good for an average of 7.5 per game. The 45 made threes are four more than last season at this time and 12 more than the 2007-08 campaign. Leading the way this year has been C.J. McCollum and Marquis Hall with 13 and 10 made three-pointers, respectively.
After hitting on just 1-of-5 shots overall and 1-of-3 three-point attempts in the first four games, senior captain Dave Buchberger seems to have his touch back as he sank six-of-nine shots during the last two games, including a 4-of-6 showing from beyond the arc.
Lehigh and Columbia will get things started at 7:00 on Thursday evening in the Big Apple. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320 as well as Lehighsports.com with veteran Matt Kerr on the call. Pre-game coverage gets underway at 6:30.
