BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Freshman C.J. McCollum was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, it was announced on Monday. McCollum averaged 17.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals in a pair of games for the Mountain Hawks last week and currently leads the Brown and White in scoring at 15.7 points per game.
McCollum hit for 13 points in Lehigh’s game at Rider on November 16 as he sank five-of-nine shots including three shots from beyond the arc. The Ohio native also pulled down three rebounds and one steal. McCollum received his first career start versus Quinnipiac and did not disappoint with a season-best 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting to go along with two rebounds, one assist and two steals. The freshman standout hit four three pointers as well.
McCollum is currently shooting 52% from the field and 45% from three-point range and has hit for double figures in all three of Lehigh’s games during the early going.
Lehigh returns to action on Monday evening when the Mountain Hawks play host to Monmouth at Stabler Arena. Tip-off is set for 7:05 and tickets can be purchased at the arena box office.
