Lehigh clinches spot in Patriot League tournament

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second time in the last three years the Lehigh field hockey team has qualified for the Patriot League tournament. The four team field was finalized on Saturday when Lafayette defeated Colgate 4-2 and Bucknell blanked Holy Cross 3-0. Lehigh will wrap-up the regular season Sunday afternoon at American. With a win, Lehigh can deny the Eagles the regular season championship. Should the Mountain Hawks lose, their 3-2 win over Holy Cross last weekend gives Lehigh the tiebreaker for the No. 4 seed over the Crusaders.

Lehigh will almost certainly be the No. 4 seed in next weekend’s tournament. A Mountain Hawks win on Sunday would give Bucknell the No. 1 seed and the right to host, while a Lehigh loss would give the regular season title to American. Sunday’s game gets underway at 2 p.m. from Jacobs Field in Washington, D.C.
