BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh senior forward Liz Carlos has been named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week it was announced on Monday. Carlos totaled three goals in two games over the weekend, including both goals in the Mountain Hawks’ convincing 2-0 shout of American on Sunday. The award is the first of Carlos’ career as she becomes the second Lehigh player to earn league recognition this year, joining junior goalkeeper Lauren Mains who was twice named the league’s Goalkeeper of the Week earlier this season.

Friday night, Carlos did her best to lead Lehigh from two goals down against Navy. She broke a lengthy scoring drought for the Mountain Hawks with a goal in the 84th minute, and just missed tying the game on a pair of free kicks in Lehigh’s 2-1 setback. On Sunday, Carlos led the way for Lehigh in one of its most dominant performances of the season as she put the Mountain Hawks on the scoreboard nine minutes into the game and added an insurance goal in the 54th minute as Lehigh blanked American. In two matches last week Carlos totaled 17 shots, including nine shots on goal.

For the season, the Southbury, Connecticut native leads the Mountain Hawks with six goals and five assists for 17 points. Carlos’ game-winning goal versus the Eagles was her third of the season and she also ranks in the top five in the Patriot League in all three scoring categories.

The Mountain Hawks (8-4-5 overall, 2-2-2 Patriot League) were eliminated from postseason contention when both Navy and Colgate picked up wins on Sunday. Lehigh will wrap-up its season Saturday night when rival Lafayette visits the Ulrich Sports Complex at 7 p.m. The contest can be seen online at Lehighsports.com.
