BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After recording clean sheets in both of Lehigh’s games last week, junior Lauren Mains was named the Patriot League’s Goalkeeper of the Week, it was announced on Monday. Mains played all 220 minutes and did not allow a goal in two games last week as the Mountain Hawks tied Princeton 0-0 on Wednesday before settling for a 0-0 draw at Holy Cross on Saturday. This is the second Goalkeeper of the Week honor for Mains this season and the fourth of her career.

Wednesday night against Princeton, Mains made a pair of saves to enable the Mountain Hawks to earn their first positive result in 13 all-time meetings versus the Tigers. Mains was helped out by a strong defensive effort by the back four as she needed to make just one stop in the first half and one other save in the first overtime to secure the draw.

Mains added five saves in Saturday’s draw at Holy Cross. After being seldom tested during regulation, she made three big saves in the two overtime periods to keep the game scoreless and nearly was rewarded with a victory until Lehigh’s apparent game-winning goal was waved off due to a foul call. Instead, the Mountain Hawks earned a point in the League standings and Mains upped her season shutout total to five.

The Scotch Plains, N.J. native has played every minute of every game in goal for the Mountain Hawks. Mains ranks second in the Patriot League with a 0.68 goals-against average and has also posted an .855 save percentage and 65 saves in 15 games this season. She has enjoyed several lengthy scoreless streaks this season including a current string of 233 minutes without allowing a goal.

Lehigh (7-3-5, 1-1-2 Patriot League) returns to the pitch on Friday when the Mountain Hawks kick-off a busy weekend of league action against Navy. Game time is set for 7 p.m. from the Ulrich Sports Complex with video coverage of the match available at Lehighsports.com.
