BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh plays its final non-league match of the season Wednesday’s as the Mountain Hawks welcome the Princeton Tigers to the Ulrich Sports Complex. The Mountain Hawks enjoyed one of their best all-around performances of the season in a 4-1 win Friday night at Colgate, but could not continue the momentum as they fell 3-1 to Bucknell Sunday in Lewisburg. Lehigh will use Wednesday’s clash to tune-up for its stretch of four remaining Patriot League games beginning Saturday when the Mountain Hawks travel to Holy Cross.
Two days after matching their highest offensive output of the season, the Mountain Hawks allowed a season-high three goals to the Bison as Lehigh (7-3-3 overall) fell to 1-1-1 in the Patriot League with Sunday’s setback. Senior Liz Carlos led Lehigh in two games last weekend with two assists against Colgate and the Mountain Hawks’ lone goal versus Bucknell. Carlos has taken over the team lead in scoring with 11 points, one more than classmate Natalie Hojnacki, who joined juniors Glynn Fitzer and Lena Cannon and sophomore Genna Pepe as goal scorers Friday night in Hamilton, N.Y.
Princeton (5-6-1) is also playing its final non-league game of the season tonight. The Tigers won 1-0 at Brown on Saturday to give coach Julie Shackford her 200th career victory. Princeton also defeated Patriot League member American 1-0 last week in New Jersey. The Tigers have scored 11 goals in 12 games, with Jen Hoy and Lauren Whatley leading the way with two apiece. Alyssa Pont has played every minute in goal this season for Princeton and is allowing just over gone goal per game.
The Tigers have never lost to Lehigh, winning all 12 meetings dating back to 1993. Princeton has won the last two meetings by 1-0 scores, last year in New Jersey and in Bethlehem in 2007.
