BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh looks for its first win of the season in game two of a three game home stand, as the Mountain Hawks welcome Division I newcomer Bryant University to the Ulrich Sports Complex on Saturday morning. The Mountain Hawks enter the game at 0-2 after dropping a heartbreaking 3-2 double overtime contest to West Chester on Wednesday night.

Senior Kara Zweizig netted the first two goals of the season for the Mountain Hawks, in the loss to West Chester. Zweizig has taken on more of a defensive role in Lehigh’s first two games, but still managed to score twice on Wednesday, including a goal with 4:30 remaining that forced overtime. She also converted a penalty stroke for Lehigh’s first goal of the season, and added a defensive save as well. The Mountain Hawks out shot West Chester by a commanding 30-18 margin, but Joelle Zarefoss made 18 saves and Desiree Walker scored 5:37 into the second overtime to propel the Golden Rams to victory. Five different Mountain Hawks were credited with at least four shots in Wednesday’s contest, led by junior Kelly Fox who put seven shots on goal.

A program that has experienced success at the Division II level, the Bryant Bulldogs are in their first year at Division I and have begun the season with a record of 1-2. Bryant opened its season last weekend in Philadelphia with losses to Saint Joseph’s and Temple by a combined score of 11-0. The Bulldogs picked up their first win of the season on Monday, a 3-2 triumph over Division II Mansfield. Bryant was 12-8 last year, with sophomore Julie Kuchyt serving as the Bulldogs top returning scorer from a year ago. Junior Kundayi Mawema has started all three games in the goal cage.

Saturday’s game marks the first ever meeting in field hockey between Lehigh and Bryant. Game time is set for 11 a.m. from the Ulrich Sports Complex and the game can be seen on Lehighsports.com with streaming video powered by Yahoo! Sports College Broadcast.
