BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh returns home for the first time in nearly three weeks as the Mountain Hawks welcome the Monmouth Hawks to the Ulrich Sports Complex Friday night. The Mountain Hawks went 1-2-1 on their four game road trip, which concluded with a gritty 1-0 victory at Cornell on Sunday. Monmouth is the first of two 2007 NCAA tournament participants on Lehigh’s schedule. The Hawks won the NEC last season and are off to a 4-1 start in 2008.

A pair of substitutes combined to deliver Lehigh a victory in Sunday’s game at Cornell, as freshman Hannah Cochran fed sophomore Danielle Fritz for the game-winning goal in the 70th minute. Lehigh now has five goals in six games, with five different players finding the back of the net. Sophomore Lauren Mains has done her part to keep the Mountain Hawks in games. Mains has 37 saves on the season, including back-to-back nine-save efforts in Lehigh’s last two outings. Lehigh enters the weekend with a 2-3-1 record on the season.

Monmouth brings a high-powered offensive attack into Friday’s game. The Hawks have outscored their opponents by a 14-4 margin in five games this season. Last weekend, Monmouth bounced back from its only loss this season with a 7-0 rout of NJIT and a 2-1 win over Iona. Sophomore Mary Wilks leads the Hawks with five goals and 11 points this season.  She has not worked alone however, as four different Monmouth players have multiple goals this season and all four have at least five points overall.

The all-time series favors Monmouth by a 5-2-1 margin. Last year Lehigh earned a 2-2 draw in New Jersey, and the Mountain Hawks are 2-1-1 in the last four meetings.

Friday night’s game gets underway at 7 p.m. and all the action can be seen online at Lehighsports.com with streaming powered by Yahoo! Sports College Broadcast.
