BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Junior Marquis Hall has been named a nominee for the 2009 Bob Cousy Award, given annually to the top collegiate male point guard spanning across all divisions by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.  The selection criteria emphasize leadership, team work, success, and fundamentals as being critical parts for the game of basketball as a point guard.  Nominations are solicited from across the country from head coaches and the winner is selected by a Blue Ribbon Selection Committee made up of the biggest names in college basketball.  Finalists for the award will be revealed on February 1.

Hall has started all seven games for the Mountain Hawks this season, and leads the team in scoring at 15.0 points per game.  The Oregon native has scored in double figures four times, including a season high 28 points in the Mountain Hawks victory over Big East foe Rutgers on November 26.  Hall also leads the Brown and White in rebounding, averaging 6.7 per game, which was bolstered by his career best 15 rebound performance in that win over the Scarlet Knights.  Hall’s 4.7 assists per game and 1.43 steals per game are also tops among all Mountain Hawks.

Hall and the rest of the Mountain Hawks return to the court on Friday evening when they travel to New York to take on the Stony Brook Seawolves at Pritchard Gymnasium.  Tip-off is set for 7:00 and all of the action will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320 as well as Lehighsports.com with Matt Kerr providing the commentary.
