BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh heads to New Jersey on Wednesday evening for the first of two straight road contests as the Mountain Hawks take on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at the Louis Brown Athletic Center.  The Mountain Hawks were able to hold off a St. Francis (Pa.) rally on Monday evening and improve to 3-1 for the first time in over a decade with a 61-56 victory at Stabler Arena.  The Brown and White received a game-high 15 points, including a trio of three-pointers from junior Dave Buchberger, while classmate Zahir Carrington added 12 points and eight rebounds.  Lehigh held a 17-point lead in the game with nine minutes remaining, but saw that dwindle all the way down to four in the closing minutes.  Three free throws in the final 38 seconds would eventually seal the win for the Brown and White.  Rutgers enters Wednesday’s game having lost its last time out, a 64-63 setback in overtime versus St. Bonaventure here at the RAC on Sunday.  Prior to that defeat, the Scarlet Knights had won their first three games.

Lehigh shot a blistering 69-percent (9-of-13) from three-point range in the win over St. Francis.  It was the Mountain Hawks highest three-point percentage since sinking 11-of-15 attempts in a win over Stony Brook on December 5, 2007.

Since the start of the 2002-03 season (Brett Reed’s first on the Lehigh coaching staff), the Mountain Hawks have played five games versus Big East opponents.  The list includes matchups with Miami in 2002, UConn in 2003, Villanova in 2005, and Notre Dame and Rutgers in 2006.

Wednesday’s game tips off at 7:30 from the Louis Brown Athletic Center on the campus of Rutgers University in Piscataway, New Jersey.  The contest will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320 as well as Lehighsports.com with Matt Kerr and ESPN Radio’s Matt Markus.  Pre-game coverage gets underway at 7:00.
