Mountain Hawks hold off Marist, 1-0 Friday night

“Give them (Marist) credit for keeping the pressure on,” said Lehigh head coach Manny Oudin. “We came out strong in the second half and were able to create chances to go up two or three to zero, but we were unable to finish and were very fortunate that they didn’t tie it.”
The game’s only goal came in the 23rd minute as Fetsick took a free kick from senior Michaela Pawlewicz on a bounce and headed it past Caitlin Nazarechuk for her tenth career goal.
Lehigh fired 17 shots on the evening, including five from senior Melissa Montalvo and four from sophomore Liz Carlos, but were unable to extend the lead. The Mountain Hawks also held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks on the night.
The Red Foxes did not record a shot on goal until the final seconds, when
“I’m happy with the clean sheet, and we certainly had a better defensive effort tonight,” added Oudin.
Nazarechuk finished with seven saves for Marist, as the Red Foxes fall to 1-1 on the season.
