Lehigh wins second consecutive match

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.- The Mountain Hawks recorded their second consecutive victory Thursday night, after defeating Wagner by a score of 3-1. The game scores were 30-25, 26-30, 30-26 and 30-25.  Lehigh improves its record to 3-8, while the Seahawks fall to 2-3 on the season.

 

Shannon Spafford led the team with 14 kills while also recording three solo blocks and three assisted blocks.  Freshman Brittany Dickinson hit .429 for the match, and recorded a team high 46 assists. 

 

Dannielle Pimental and Brittany Thurston combined for 39 of the team’s 80 digs.  Pimental and Thurston also had two service aces each, while Haley Conklin led the team with three.  As a team Lehigh hit .400 in the first game and .190 for the entire match.

 

Kelly Kasper led Wagner, as she hit .412 for the match and recorded six digs.  Sarah Garrette had a team high 14 kills and two assisted blocks to help the Seahawks offense.

 

“I was very pleased with the results of our non-conference play,” said head coach Jenny Maurer, “and I’m excited to head into league play.”

 

Lehigh returns to action on Friday September 21, when they open up Patriot League play against Bucknell.  The game will be played at Bucknell starting at 7 p.m.
