BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Veritas, the story of Jon Trenge ‘05, is one of over 70 films that will be on display at the fourth annual SouthSide Film Festival, June 19-23. The feature-length documentary centers around Lehigh’s 2004-05 wrestling season; and tells the story of Jon Trenge, Lehigh’s three-time All-American and current assistant wrestling coach, as he strives to overcome adversity to achieve his childhood dream of becoming a national champion.

The film’s primary festival screening will be Thursday, June 21 at 7:15 pm in Lehigh University’s Packard Lab Auditorium. Veritas is the evening’s main attraction, and the screening will be followed by a question and answer session with Trenge, Lehigh head wrestling coach Greg Strobel, and Howie Miller, a Lehigh Valley native who co-produced and directed the film with Alex Weinress.

Trenge, a three-time EIWA Champion and two-time NCAA runner-up, graduated as Lehigh’s career leader in victories with 133. Along the way, the Orefield native had to deal with a serious eye-condition that nearly derailed his wrestling career and was later forced to deal with the anger and frustration that accompanied his opponents attacking his protective goggles.

A second screening of Veritas is scheduled for Saturday, June 23 at 2:10 pm, also inside Packard Lab Auditorium. Jon Trenge and Howie Miller will both be available for questions and answers after the Saturday showing as well.

Tickets for Veritas or any other screenings are available in one of three ways. For a single film block (one two-hour screening) cost is five dollars, and tickets can be purchased at the venue door. A five-day All-Access pass is available for $75.00 and includes unlimited access to all screenings over the five-day festival, plus admittance to the closing party on Saturday evening.

There is also a special Saturday pass for those who plan to catch the second screening. The all-day pass costs $35.00 and covers a full day of films plus the closing party. For more information on tickets please visit the link above.
