EASTON, Pa. – Lehigh used a strong start, which included an 8-2 first half run, to down archrival Lafayette 11-5 on Friday evening.  Sophomore Sara MacIntyre scored four goals, while senior Vienna Pharaon added three scores and two assists as the Mountain Hawks improve to 4-5 overall with their second straight victory, and pull even in league play at 1-1.  The Leopards did not have any player score more than one goal on the evening and fall to 0-9 overall and 0-2 in league action.

Lehigh jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first 4:54 as Pharaon, freshman Inneke Carmola and Sara MacIntyre each netted a score.  Stephanie Kramer scored Lafayette’s first score with 22:35 left in the half, but junior Christy Smith put the Mountain Hawks up 4-1 at the 19:00 mark.  MacIntyre scored back-to-back goals at the 16:33 and 14:29 clips, and Carmola added another score with 10:57 to go, as Lehigh went in front 7-1.  MacIntyre added yet another goal to complete her hat trick and the Mountain Hawks went to the half up by a count of 8-2.

Julia Bateman scored the second half’s opening goal to pull the home team to within five, but Lehigh responded with three straight scores, as Pharaon and senior Lissy King combined for three goals to put the Brown and White up 11-2.  Lafayette would add two late goals, but it was not enough as Lehigh rolled to its second straight win in Easton.

Lehigh out shot the Leopards 35-17 on the evening, led by Carmola’s 12, and the Mountain Hawks scooped up 27 ground balls, as Ferris and sophomore Sarah Fudin each registered four.  Lehigh won ten draw controls and forced 32 Lafayette turnovers, while Ferris finished with six saves in 56 minutes of work.  Kaitlin Dean saw 3:30 of action and sent back one shot in her time.

Lehigh returns to action right away as the Mountain Hawks play host to the Oregon Ducks on Saturday evening at the Ulrich Sports Complex.  Game time is set for 7:00 and live video and audio can be found on lehighsports.com.
