Lehigh and Harvard set to meet on Saturday

12/7/2007 12:00:00 AM | Men's Basketball

Fresh off an exciting 76-61 victory over Stony Brook, Lehigh goes for two straight on Saturday afternoon versus the Harvard Crimson at Stabler Arena.  The Mountain Hawks snapped a two-game slide with their win on Wednesday evening against the Seawolves as sophomore Dave Buchberger made the most of his first career start, netting a career-best 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting, including five three pointers, while senior Bryan White notched his fourth career double-double and sophomore Marquis Hall dished out a career-high ten assists.  Harvard enters this weekend’s game looking to bounce back following a 79-72 setback to Boston University on Tuesday.  The Crimson are currently in the midst of a 21-day stretch where they will play seven games, including five on the road.

Sophomore Dave Buchberger made the most of his first career start on Wednesday, drilling five three-pointers en route to a game and career-high 21 points.  The Cincinnati native also pulled down a career-best five rebounds.  Buchberger’s 21 point effort was the highest scoring output by a Lehigh player making his first career start since Chuck Penn netted 21 points in an 86-74 win over Harvard on November 22, 1991.

Lehigh is currently second in the Patriot League in three-point field goal percentage, hitting .442 percent from deep.  That is a huge improvement over the past six seasons when the Mountain Hawks failed to hit at least 40 percent of their three-point tries.  Lehigh’s .733 (11-15) percentage from downtown against Stony Brook was its highest since hitting .737 (14-19) at Notre Dame a season ago.

Saturday’s tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 pm from Stabler Arena.  Tickets can be purchased at the arena box office prior to tip-off.
